Agela • bipedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#26
The Agela are one of the tallest species in the galaxy, averaging around 9-11 feet in height. They appear very similar to the Minotaur of Greek mythology, standing upright, with legs and a tail similar to those of a cow from Earth. Both male and female Agela have horns, but the female’s horns are always much bigger. The Agela can channel Axiom into their horns, making them functionally unbreakable, to the point that an Agela can use her horns to gouge holes into starship armor.
The Agela are often presented as the “Herbivore version of a Cannidor”. An Agela can actually match a Cannidor in size and strength, and competes in the realm of natural weapons with her horns. The place where the Agela have a marked advantage over Cannidor is their weight. They tend to be almost 20% heavier, on average, than Cannidors of similar height. There isn’t actually some great rivalry between the Agela and the Cannidor, they actually have somewhat similar cultures, though the Agela tend to be far less violent.
Aka • tentacled piscine carnivore • 1/100#1
One of the oldest races in the galaxy the Aka are generally wherever there’s water. Technically amphibious the race is deeply uncomfortable but far from slow on land. This race resemble mermaids of the human legends but matched up with many different kinds of fish rather than one generic one. All Aka are effectively a singular race, but environmental pressures in infancy and the mother’s diet during gestation can radically alter the species and cause them to take on numerous characteristics. It’s not uncommon to see massively different types of Aka as direct siblings. High stress generally cause the child to develop toxic spines, anger and rage can cause armoured scales to resemble a shark and many, many other such variances.
Alfar • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#2
The Alfar are one of the oldest species in the galaxy, older even than the Tret, and at least as old as the Aka. However, unlike most ancient species, they have a comparatively small population. This is because they only breed once every few decades.
The Alfar are very similar to Trets in appearance, but they tend to be leaner and a fair bit taller. They have skin color ranging from various shades of brown, to grays, to purples. Their hair can range anywhere between black and white, as well as several shades of brown. Their eyes have black sclera instead of white, and their irises actively give off light, which dims and brightens in response to their moods. Their irises can come in almost any color. They have long, pointed ears, which are also quite mobile, and move with their emotions as well.
They are naturally the most long-lived race, living for almost two thousand years. Of course, this doesn’t mean much when everyone is basically immortal. They are also incredibly gifted with Axiom; almost every single Alfar is an Adept by most standards. In other words, they’re Space Elves.
Andinus • bipedal insect carnivore • 2/100#7
The Andinus are a species that are known to be volatile when provoked. They give warnings by stabbing near a target until they finally loose all patience and stab their victim to inject a potent paralytic. Their stingers have natural axiom effects that allow them to pierce any shell or skin, their claws however have effects based around fine manipulation and preventing damage when handling sensitive objects allowing a much larger amount of manual dexterity than jagged claws would otherwise indicate.
They are one of the few species capable of speaking Trill-Speech and have a very wide vocal range. However individuals among the Andinus have been known to have a species unique variant of tinnitus that causes agitation and headaches when using specific tones that are prevalent in Galactic Trade and many, many other languages. Thankfully this difficulty is not hereditary and does not prevent the individual from understanding the language in question.
Angla • bipedal piscine herbivore • 1/100#6
A species that evolved from an herbivorous variant to the anglerfish. Very personable and social they’re extremely friendly and unable to bluff as the glowing light on their heads display their emotions at all times. As such they’re regarded as extremely honest people and well regarded wherever they go. Yellow is happy. Green is wary. Blue is curious. Red is frightened. White is angry.
As they’re so easily trusted they’re found in all sorts of fields and there was a scientist with a bit of an anal fetish on the team when the Dzedin and Yauya were peeking into Cruel Space. Which explains both Humanity’s ‘grey aliens’ concept, and said grey alien’s obsession with anally probing things and people.
Apuk • bipedal reptile carnivore • 1/100#32
A race that despite their appearances evolved from turtles on the world of Serbow. Lithe and beautiful, looking like super models with horns and a short reptilian tail to Human eyes, they have a culture of Axiom use to shift how they look. As a whole they can range from gigantic hulking Amazons to petite sweet looking young ladies and everything in between. Those that aren’t powerful elemental conjurers are capable of picking up and throwing a smaller starship regardless of appearance. They have a racial sport of fire breathing and feats of absurd strength.
The highest regarded Apuk are generally petite and rather cute looking due to the fact that they are so assured of their power that they feel no need to display it. Personality wise they are assertive and unused to, if not outright unwilling to hear a no. In regards to courtship, if the man doesn’t get away then they don’t hate her enough to leave and if he’s not rescued then no one else loves them as much as them.
Humans like to summarize the Apuk as ‘What would happen if the Princess and Dragon from classic fairytales where the same being and it was all bait to lure in the Knight for Nookie.’, though perhaps it’s more accurate to say that each individual Apuk has the potential to be the Dragon, the Knight AND the Princess at the same time. This heady mix of fire breathing, living anti-tank weapon, courtly manners and refined beauty in a ballgown or handsome gentleman in an elegant suit seems to culturally appeal to a great many Humans, many of whom have come to live in Apuk space.
Apuk are egg layers, and lay large clutches a few months after gestation followed by around six to eight months if incubation. A normal clutch size is eight, any more than that isn’t considered news until a woman lays a clutch of twelve or more, and four or less calls the health of the mother into question.
It’s also worth noting that the Apuk, and their government, the Apuk Star Empire, are one of Humanity’s first and most important allies on the galactic stage, with the Apuk going so far as to invite a decent population of Humans to live on their cradle world as a small colony, something almost unheard of across the galaxy.
The native Apuk language is Cinder Tongue.

Artoq • bipedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#89
The Artoqr (Artoqr is the plural, Artoq is the singular) are a species of bipedal aquatic mammals which stand slightly taller than the average Human man. They have a strong physical resemblance to several species of aquatic mammals from Earth, primarily leopard seals and otters. Their bodies are covered in short, dense fur, though they tend to have longer and softer fur on their abdomens. Their coats are typically mottled and spotted, and come in a variety of colors ranging from grays, blacks, and whites, to browns, tans, and beiges. Though more unusual colors can happen due to cross breeding.
The Artoqr have heads that look like a cross between a leopard seal and a Human, with long and pronounced muzzles with luscious, Human-like lips. They have small, round ears, and tend to have dark, almost black irises and large pupils adapted for low-light conditions. They also have exactly the kind of teeth one would expect from an obligate carnivore. All Artoqr have a mop of dense hair on their heads that runs the gamut in color from black, to blonde, to white. These thick manes are traditionally kept long and braided.
Both an Artoq’s hands and feet are webbed, though the hands are only partially webbed. Their fingers and toes both end in short claws. Artoqrs have disproportionally large feet, roughly 33% longer than a similarly-sized Human’s feet. That extra length comes from their large webbed toes, which they use to great effect in the water. Using their webbed hands and feet, and their large, rudder-like tails, Artoqr are capable of great speed in the water. Even without Axiom, the species can survive in frigid conditions and hold their breath for more than an hour. Artoqr will train their children to use Axiom to actually breathe water, allowing them to stay under the surface indefinitely. This combined with the Artoqr’s innate ability to change and maintain their body’s internal pressure using Axiom, allows the seal-people to dive to astonishing depths. It can also allow an Artoq to survive in the void of space almost completely unaided by any form of technology.
Culturally, the Artoqr are a proud warrior people who spent the majority of their history divided into petty Queendoms that perpetually raided one another for resources and thralls. Some traditionalists still maintain this way of life, prowling the Axiom lanes as pirates. Though as pirates go, Artoqr pirates are better than most. For one, they won’t kill more than absolutely necessary, and they do not practice true slavery. Thralls in Artoqr society are given a whole list of basic rights, and can work their way to freedom in a relatively short time.
The most unusual aspect of Artoqr culture is that they traditionally practice funerary cannibalism, where they would eat the bodies of their fallen loved ones to preserve their spirit. This is extremely rare in modern times, and is almost always done symbolically by throwing a large feast after a funeral, and burning something that was important to the deceased.
The Artoqr were discovered and uplifted by the Cannidor, and the two species share a close bond to this day. Though the Artoqr’s more flexible morality is often frustrating to the Cannidor.
Begrob • bipedal insect omnivore • 1/100#17
Another instance where a single planet has produced multiple fully realized races. The Begrob and Lette reached a fairly advanced age and actually initiated their own First Contact by finding and hacking a communication pylon both literally and digitally. The primitive rocket ship was then carried back to it’s origin point and First Contact proper was made. By this point in their development the Begrob and Lette peoples had interbred so much as to be considered a single species despite clear and pointed differences in the fully formed adult body. As they lay their eggs in the hundreds it is common for not only every woman to have a husband but to also have many sisters of the opposite species.
Both races are easily recognized by the hard and strong carapaces that protect them from the harsh dust storms of their home planet and the subspecies are identified along the ornate horns that sprout from the shoulders rather than the very Tret like head. There are noted gaps for the genitalia and chests which are usually covered by bindings, wraps or in the case of a man’s chest left exposed for courting reasons. Both species will shed their carapace in portions and make a point of exposing the newest piece of armor to harsh sunlight in order to harden it as quickly as possible. The apparent weakness around the head is actually an illusion as both races can unfold their shoulder armor and it will rise up to protect their heads as a helmet, the horns then joining to meet in the center of the forehead.
The Begrob Species has a harder and thicker carapace capable of resisting direct laser fire and particularly harsh digging claws that make brutal short ranged weapons. The Lette on the other hand have thinner carapaces and can unfold their back armor to reveal a pair of fully functional wings. Furthermore their claws are nowhere near so thick or as strong as a Begrob as they’re used for grasping and manipulation over digging through stone and sand.
As a people they’re very cautious and reserved with the Lette usually being the first to approach with the Begrob nearby in case of trouble. The unification point of the two species was roughly five thousand years before first contact and to this day there are still fierce debates about what aspect of their cultures came from which species.
Blood Sonir • winged mammal carnivore • 1/100#2
Vampire Bat Women. Slightly smaller and designed to stand upright more comfortably to stalk prey, the line between Blood and Fruit Sonir is drawn from the environment. In fact, depending on the environment of the first few days of life can and will determine what kind of Sonir they will develop into. Where Fruit Sonir are made in more humid and lush environments the Blood Sonir are made from arid environments.
This occurs because the Sonir homeworld is a large tidally locked moon orbiting a gas giant. The Blood Sonir developed on the arid side of the world and their primary source of drinking water when they were animals was the blood of their prey. Despite being carnivores, the Blood Sonir are no more or no less vicious than the Fruit Sonir, but when they were hunted prior to being people, they required entirely different bait and hunting methods due to diet, build and environment.
Brute Archana • quadrupedal insect carnivore • 1/100#5
Less woman on top of a spider and more spider that’s also a woman. Their natural and most comfortable posture is similar to an earth spider rearing up so far that it’s front two sets of legs are in the air. Their bottom most legs are enormous and very very powerful not to mention stable to the point of absurdity. This finds them often manning very powerful weapons or working construction.
They’ve got about fifty gallons of blood under high pressure contained within their bodies as they move hydraulically like most Earth spiders. When injured or damaged this can result in a high pressure release of blood as discovered by multiple teams from the Undaunted.

Budingen • bipedal flora carnivore • 0/100#3
This species is not one of the usual sorts of sapience as the lifecycle begins as a non-sentient plant that uses axiom to see, hear, and finally move to its advantage. The usual life cycle is from flowering into wind swept seeds however the first expedition to the planet created an new lifecycle as some of the subspecies copied Bipedal explorers in order to interact with them. Specifically, a male scientist. Since then, the Budingen have chosen Sapience to not only have advantageous lifestyles in civilization but also to pursue relationships with other sentients.
To this end Budingen grow their bodies in stages to be able to interact with sentients and each other but find that although they can grow many other creatures, they cannot replicate their own species without going to flower. Their growth requires axiom and knowledge so all Budingen are also axiom adepts of some capability above average however they also chose to be sentient and are usually very kind and very rare.
There is believed to be about 1 million after nearly 2000 years of civilization of these caring if slightly obsessed individuals. However it is darkly suggested that their sentience begins to fray as their created minds grow old or are misshapen suggesting that they return to selfish living plants under the right circumstances.
The first contact expedition saw many casualties before the Budingen became pacified.
Cannidor • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#51
Despite the literal rows of razor sharp teeth this is actually an omnivore. The species seems to be a cross between a lion and a shark in all forms of colors. Their digestion is considered one of the most robust in the galaxy and they can digest nearly anything. Human cuisine is considered painful but WORTH IT to their species.
They have a lithe, powerful tail with a tuft at the end, huge amounts of hair, plasma resistant fur, and angular heads with sensual lips to hide over a hundred serrated teeth that they replace constantly over their lives. They have serrated claws similar to their teeth at the end of their fingers and are one of the most dangerous races the galaxy over, if they didn’t culturally consider almost all other races adorable and in need of protection. Still scary as hell though. They average at ten feet tall and can grow as tall as twelve, or more.
It’s worth noting that Cannidor are one of Humanity’s staunchest and most valuable allies in the wider galaxy… and a very common source of romantic partners as a result of highly compatible diet, culture and attitudes. Cannidor as a whole generally believe that things smaller than they are, are to be cared for and are cute. This leads to a lot of matronizing that drives many galactic citizens up the wall.
While there’s certainly plenty of Humans who wouldn’t mind such behavior, there’s just as many aggressive Humans who don’t back down from the slightest hint of a challenge even if the person challenging them is twice their height. Cannidor are very surprised by this behavior… and they like surprises. Men in particular who show themselves to be the equals of Cannidor acquaintances will likely find themselves married to several large lion-shark like alien women in short order.
The more quiet kind of Human might also find themselves married, or in some cases adopted, as there’s plenty of Cannidor girls who prefer a more gentle, soft sort of guy in their lives.
In short? There’s no escape. Though as more than one Human has asked… why would you want to?
Generally considered to be in an eternal tie with the Apuk as the best possible spouse for an Undaunted Marine.
Home World: Canis Prime
Government: Cannidor Khanates
Languages: Cannidor, Cannidor Battle Cant
Examples of Native Religions: The Old Way, the Astral Guides
Trivia: Unlike the vast majority of species, the Cannidor achieved spaceflight on their own and encountered the Galactic Council first. Admittedly involving a colonization/invasion of a Council world followed by a brief war. The planet in question voted to remain under Cannidor control afterward.
Carib • bipedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#22
Hoofed and furred women with enormous racks… of antlers. These antlers grow for life and generally reach maximum size in roughly ten years. They naturally carve out Axiom patterns as they grow and work as powerful totems. These totems can be used by other races but trying to get one puts you on the shit list of every Carib in the galaxy. Breaking or damaging their horns is a massive insult and liable to get you meeting their hooves at the highest velocity they can manage.
Notable Carib:
Holly Clatterhooves
Charbis • winged insect herbivore • 1/100#5
A very territorial race the Charbis dedicate their lives to the mastery of whatever craft they chose to take up and most of this short species is dedicated to gardening and candy making. For the most part these women almost never leave their hives and surrounding territory except for the ‘scouts’ who are the fastest among their kind and the most aggressive to seek out supplies, new places to live and husbands. They do brisk trade the galaxy over but generally are regarded as standoffish and more than a little greedy. Regardless, their status as one of the major food suppliers the galaxy over makes them welcome if annoying neighbors.
A hive of Charbis moving onto a planet can break a famine nearly over night! They produce enormous amounts of berries, fruits, sweets of all kinds and edible flowers. Their tables are well stocked, but you’re usually not invited. If you are invited… you might not be able to leave. They’re fiercely protective of members of their colony, especially the colony’s husband. As such, there’s few more staunch allies available in the galaxy if you can get a Charbis hive to consider you a friend.
Notable Charbis:
The Beezerkers are a Charbis hive based out of Octarin Spin that act more like gangsters and are aggressive even by Charbis standards. Their husband is Daniel ‘Hoagie’ Eastman, a Human member of the Undaunted stationed on Octarin Spin as part of the Earth Foreign Legion.
Cloaken • bipedal reptile carnivore • 1/100#4
Bipedal lizard women with Axiom infused skin. There are two distinct sub species the 4.1 and 4.2, the first is the most common capable of optical illusions that look like shapeshifting and the four point two is naturally invisible until they chose not to be.
Natural deceivers both of them tend to fall into criminal behavior and are of the opinion that if someone is fooled by them they deserve to be fooled by them. There is a one in ten chance for a 4.1 to give birth to a 4.2.

Cloud Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#6
This breed of Nagasha is characterized by the unusual muscles in their tail. These muscles let them stretch out the ribs along their body to flatten it out and allow themselves to glide without Axiom and outright fly with it. Making them one of the few sentient races capable of natural flight without any form of wing to be seen. Perhaps unfairly they have a reputation of being flighty compared to other Nagasha, but that seems to be as much a play on words as any actual observation of behavior.
They do have a noted fondness for higher places however and when needing some time to think will often stare out in the distance while hanging partially off the edge of something tall.
Cratara • bipedal reptile carnivore • 1/100#41
A more recently emerging species but well into the age of sail on their continental homeworld. These master trackers and ambush hunters par-excellence resemble a far more feathered Cloaken without any form of Axiom Stealth. Instead they have culturally developed an Axiom Tracking ability that allows them to hunt across massive areas with absolute precision. If not for their more introverted and crowd shy nature the Cratara would be the face of galactic Bounty Hunting with their sheer skill in the endeavor.
Cuscia • bipedal piscine herbivore • 4/100#1
Though classified as an amphibian, the Cuscia started their existence as a slug like mollusk with a trait for hyper adaption, smoothly reacting to changes in their environment on a genetic level even at the individual scale. After being uplifted approximately one thousand five hundred years before the current era, the Cuscia as a species became specialists in genetic and biomechanical engineering, and performed a large scale genetic shift on the entire species. Seemingly over night the Cuscia became a invertebrate bipedal species more akin to an amphibian than any of the more slug like species.
When asked about it, the Cuscia simply said they had chosen to make a more significant adaption than normal. This adaption capability has caused some species to label them as an ‘apex’ species, but most apex species, and the Cuscia themselves, reject the label.
Scientifically this is correct. While the Cuscia react and adapt faster than most non-Apex species, they lack the reflexes and instincts of a true Apex life form. No one besides the Apex species and scientists really care about the distinction though.
The Cuscia are somewhat introverted as a species, with their high male birth rate they experience little population pressure in terms of male scarcity. Those that leave their worlds tend to wear body suits to prevent leaking mucus on things. Those who have seen more of a Cuscia’s skin compare the mucus to the individual in question being constantly coated in a thin layer of oil… something that no doubt contributes to their popularity in adult material.
Deep Crag Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#4
A very Axiom intense species they have no limbs and are a woman’s torso and head on a large muscular tail like most Nagasha but utterly lacking in any other limb. The tip of the tail forms a natural totem for Axiom use that is activated by rattling.
Yes, magic rattlesnake women.
They often live as skilled Adepts but the dimmer members of their kind often find themselves in people roles as the species is naturally extremely patient due to being ambush predators.
Desert Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#2
Six armed, Generally a Desert Nagasha’s mood can be judged by their paint. The more of it there is the less room they have for jokes and messing about. The only level higher would be the painting of her arms as well which would mean that she’s genocidally serious rather than merely homicidally serious. Feeling neutral meant the eyes, lips and cheeks would all have paint, and never trust a Desert Nagasha without paint.
Drin • bipedal insect herbivore • 1/100#11
An antlike species with four eyes, some Drin have four arms and others have six. Before the Drin made first contact they were two species, one of arachnid descent, the other of insect descent. Eventually their competitions involved the stealing of males from the other and all that did was blend the two species together until the differences were cultural.
The galactic norm of girls being their mother’s species and sons the fathers is followed giving them Arachnid and Insect Drin, such that they don’t count each other as different species anymore. So the wars stopped due to everyone being the same people by sheer accident, then three generations later they made first contact. It’s hard to make a war with someone that you objectively know isn’t the monster you were told they were and the justifications are only growing weaker.
Their antenna are extremely sensitive to electromagnetic energy and are often in technician roles to make good use of their exceptional senses and incredible dexterity. An affable, calm and charming species that uses a mix of axiom pheromones to communicate along with normal speech and likes to live in large groups. These don’t have to feature large amounts of other Drin, but many appreciate the company of their own species.
Surprisingly egalitarian and republican in the classical European sense compared to their history and indeed that many of their worlds are ruled by monarchies to this very day, with a common Drin slogan being; “Every woman a queen in her own right.” The slogan becomes more important when you learn that there were periods where marriage rights were restricted to royalty in some Drin societies.
Dzedin • bipedal insect carnivore • 1/100#3
An extremely lethal hunter species that has achieved full sentience and knowingly and willingly self modified themselves to conform with the galactic norm. Previously a hive like race the Dzedin have taken their change into individuals with almost religious fervor. Personal responsibility and responsibilities over one’s underlings are highly valued in this extremely respectful, honorable and fair minded society.
It’s just a shame they look like they crawled out of a horror movie. In particular, Alien, having black carapaces, including an elongated head with no eyes, sensing entirely by axiom, seven limbs, four arms and two powerful legs for leaping and climbing crowned by long prehensile tails with a massive blade on the end… along with plush kissable lips and curves straight out of the weirdest strip club you’ve ever seen.
The resemblance to the Xenomoph is uncanny and no accident. They, along with their Yauya sister species were part of an effort to Map Cruel Space some decades prior. This attempt involved mental projection and they stumbled upon sentient minds. They are in effect one of the two races responsible for Humanity’s emergence from Cruel Space as they alerted the galaxy at large of the existence of Humanity along with their sister species the Yauya.
They are generally too polite to use this basic fact to try and get Human boyfriends and husbands, but they won’t say no either, especially if said Human is willing to play their favorite courtship game, the ‘mating hunt’ with them, wherein the ladies hunt their boyfriend or hubby and on ‘catching him’ tie him up for kisses before he gets a chance to run off and hide again.

Erumenta • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#55
This is a species born unto Axiom and if not for their sheer elemental manipulating traits could be mistaken for Trets. Their skin colors shift wildly depending on how they’re imbued and they often form unusually strong bonds with one another.
These bonds are almost never with an Erumenta of the same element but rather across elemental lines.

Feli • bipedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#9
An adaptive race of bipedal felines with highly attuned senses of hearing and sight. They’re amazing ambush predators but their patience and attention to detail make them good mechanics too. Pity about the lazy nature though.
Notable as one of the first species on a large scale that have noticed Humanity’s pair bonding habits with what appear to be Feli precursors and are happy to use that happy coincidence to try and ensnare Human partners.
Notable Feli:
Mabby Smith
Manila Pawthorne
Wichen Bridger
Floric • bipedal flora carnivore • 1/100#1
A species of incredibly unusual plant, these mobile monsters use camouflage to hunt their prey. They resemble green skinned Trets wearing a kind of jack-o-lantern on their head but with the mouth of a Venus fly trap. These crazy creature are borderline impossible to predict and have been known to literally shed any part of their anatomy and start all over again as a new person. Effectively the head comes off and can survive on its own so long as the body gets enough water, soil nutrients and sunlight. This has led a fair amount of their technology to be reliant on self decapitation as a single body can produce a new head with a new personality within a single month. Often times the old head will teach the younger one as it busies itself with the much slower process of growing a new body which requires a year.
These things may be able to effectively reproduce asexually and until recently it was believed there were no males of the species, which certainly explains how they can breed with other races and produce viable offspring.
This was believed to be a deliberate, forced evolution in order to get the greater galactic community to accept these often sociopathic salads, but is simply just the usual convergent evolution.
They are one of the most widespread practitioners of casual cannibalism and are rightly feared and hated for it. They have previously made no effort to be accepted among polite company and are most certainly not welcome among them.
Also if you’re going to have sex with one, cut off the head, fuck the body and run. Then come back in about nine months because that baby is going to need rescue as they cannot give birth to members of their own kind. They create more Floric through decapitation as said above.
As you can see from the mixed nature of this article, it has been aggressively and widely edited numerous times, and the state of the Floric are widely in flux at present time of writing. Such as it being revealed that there are Floric men, the Floric alliance with the Undaunted, centuries of misunderstandings, and yes, outright killings by Floric that have inspired reasonable fears about them.
In short, it’s complicated.
Fruit Sonir • winged mammal herbivore • 1/100#2
Fruit bat or Flying Fox women depending on your preferred etymology for the similar looking species on Earth. When they’re on the ground they walk like on their knuckles like apes and are very fast in the air. They have a tendency to act tough as a species but it’s a façade, it’s either nothing but tough love or an act so thin that it takes almost no effort to get to the gooey center.
It takes them effort to not cringe at the sight of blood.
When overwhelmed by violence though they have a tendency to snap and those that do are forever shockingly desensitized to violence becoming even tougher than they previously acted. At times it’s hard to tell the difference.
Gathara • bipedal reptile omnivore • 5/100#7
Physical Profile: Large and muscular, these thick and sharp-scaled reptilians have large digitigrade legs and broad shoulders carrying an anterior postured neck and head/face with significant departure from the standard facial structure of bipeds in the galaxy at large. Standing at a size that can dwarf a bull Cannidor. In terms of sexual characteristics, while female proportions are in line with the larger end of the galactic average, the sheer scale of the species leaves each breast larger than a Gravia’s entire bust. Males tend to be even larger and even more muscular than their female counterparts, with even broader chests and shoulders, and similarly proportional-yet-large-scaled sexual characteristics.
It is of note that there are reports, reports whose verification is currently ongoing, that the standard characteristics of a Gathara, both male and female, are not the largest the species can achieve. there are accounts of Gathara becoming more voluptuous or stocky (and hung) as the Gathara’s sense of safety, security, and wealth increase, though again these reports are currently being verified.
Part of the problem of verifying these reports is that Gathara are notoriously mobile as a race. They’re constantly out doing whatever to get more of what drives their society, cold hard cash, and preferably lots of it. By trade, by trick or by force, the Gathara are notrious space pirates and nearly as ruthless merchants, plying the axiom lanes in pursuit of unfathomable wealth.
The digestive system of a Gathara is quite robust by galactic standards, able to extract nutrition from even the most inedible of substances with the assistance of axiom. The downside of this robust internal digestion is that the Gathara are singularly vulnerable to null, Something important to note about Gathara physical characteristics is that while there are few axiom adepts within the species, their physical prowess as warriors and physical fighters make them physical match for even Apuk Battle Princesses or Veteran Cannidor Crimsonhewers, but can be overpowered with moderate Warfire use or with proper equipment.
As a reptilian species, Gathara are naturally egg layers, typically forming the egg within a week before laying a clutch of 2 to 5 eggs that hatch in about a month if all goes well. however, a Gathara woman does have the rare, by galactic norms, ability to ‘hold onto’ her clutch rather than lay them immediately and await better circumstances. Stranger still is being able to give live birth this way with the womb and vaginal tunnel being durable enough to endure the sharp edges and spikes of both the broken eggs and the claws and teeth of their children.
Gohb • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#7
Space goblin short stacks.
Very reckless and not prone on thinking things through. They breed explosively and can be found underfoot the galaxy over. They have a philosophy of it being better to justify behavior rather than actually behave.
They tend to take apart and rebuild anything they can put their hands on, making them skilled mechanics.
Considered an outright pest by many species and treated poorly, however their raw enthusiasm for life and positive attitudes have found themselves many friends (and husbands, mostly husbands) among Humans.
One of the Gohb Philosophies has somewhat codified their behavior and social quirks.

Gravia • bipedal avian omnivore • 0/100#1
Born as a proof of faith from a joint effort of several major sects of the Gravid religion. Gravidism preaches that the highest calling of all things is the creation of life… and the Gravia certainly live up to that ideal if nothing else. They were pure life energy given… not quite flesh. It’s complicated to say the very least and many, many people have issues understanding or even comprehending the Gravia as people.
These ‘Non-Euclidian bimbos’ don’t mind however and are happy to help if people do want to understand them. The Gravia are an extremely friendly species. Their forms constantly shift and change without actually doing either as they’re made of raw Axiom with a will behind it born of math. Effectively they are the result of an equation that proves life as sacred and joyous.
Interestingly this juxtaposition of an instinctive love of all life and being manifested from math makes them just as intelligent as they are friendly and they can be overwhelmingly friendly. An intelligence they put to good use pioneering technology to detect, contain and counteract Null which is even more dangerous to the Gravia than it is to any other known species in existence.
It was them that campaigned for Cruel Space to be named as such and they even now campaign for all Null based weapons to be considered highly illegal.
Physically they seem to be even more absurdly endowed than the other races in the galaxy and they have a sheer presence to them that even beings that are Axiom blind find soothing and welcoming. Ironically, not many of them follow the Gravid Faith as they find it too restrictive to their day to day lives despite literally being embodiments of it’s central ideals. This has led to debate in religious circles that go around for days, often without any satisfactory answers being reached.

Great Plains Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 3/100#1
A serpent woman species, or perhaps ‘the’ serpent woman species, believed to be the first of the now many, many Nagasha sub species. They follow the shape of a ‘Lamia’ from Earth mythology, being essentially a Human woman from the waist up and a large serpent from the waist down. Scorra is considered to be a primary home for this species.
GPNs are known to be prone to teenage rebellion that can last centuries with massive full tail tattoos and piercings so big that they can be pulled out and used as a mace. This gives them a tendency to scrape and damage the environment as the absurd piercings drag along the ground. Considered very lucky the galaxy over for having so many men but they’re also very protective of them, even more so than normal.
Guile Archana • multi-limbed insect carnivore • 1/100#4
Driders basically. Giant spider women. Guile Archana don’t weave webs but rather set up brutal traps to get what they want. They have a heavy tendency to set up amazing bases that include runways and such only they can access. Basically a Trapdoor Spider given a woman’s body, desires and intelligence.
Very, very scary in a fight, especially on their own turf, as they get in and get the hell out so fast no one can stop them, and even if caught out are still monsters in a fight.
Notable Guile Archana:

Gursida • quadrupedal mammal omnivore • 2/100#2
While having a relatively sparse population, for the galaxy at least, the Gursida are not a weak species. Despite their very heavy physique and stumbling gait, everyone knows not to anger any member of this species. For they have the same viciousness as Cannidors and Horchka. And they have the ability to stand and sit on their hind legs, just like Lopen.
There are several subspecies of Gursida, including the 5.5 which is a carnivore instead of an omnivore, and has better resistance to cold temperatures.
If members of two subspecies reproduce with each other, the offspring has a chance of becoming either one depending on genetics and environmental factors.
Ha'quinye • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#200
Technically of Alfar stock, the Ha’quinye are so culturally distinct from the rest of the Alfar that they are more or less a separate species by most reckoning despite more or less being genetically identical. However they are not without physiological differences.
Ha’quinye tend to be more muscular and significantly more aggressive than the legendarily calm and ethereal Alfar, while sharing their other physical characteristics such as long, pointed, slender ears and black sclera in the eyes. They are also less long lived than their cousins, having half the natural life span at best, something they deeply resent.
This strong divergence is a result of a long distance colonization attempt gone wrong the Ha’quinye had to somewhat rebuild their civilization from scratch, something they managed over the course of two centuries or so, with some absolutely furious resource wars and other things to keep people occupied until their first empress unified the planet.
On making first contact they slaughtered the Council’s first contact team and captured their ship, reverse engineering it and jump starting the Ha’quinye Empire which was dominant in their sector of the galactic disk for approximately four Ha’quinye life times before a coalition of local governments beat them back to their core worlds with Council support.
The Ha’quinye maintain control of a trinary of systems that are abundantly blessed with worlds and resources. While this contraction seems extreme even for defeated conquerors, the explanation appears to primarily be that the old Ha’quinye empire was good at conquering but less skilled at ruling and colonization. They tended to focus on resource extraction on captured worlds, leaving only token guards, or a small colonial government for populated worlds. So populations of Ha’quinye were relatively small outside of their dozen or so core worlds and their major military formations.
On the defeat of the last empress, a revolution led by three women from the matrician class, the Ha’quinye social and political elite, overthrew her and set up the current Triumvirate. The ‘Queen’ is a hereditary position and is incredibly secretive, even her co rulers, the consuls, generally haven’t met the current queen in person, instead acting via fiercely loyal emissaries. The consuls co rule for daily affairs of the Ha’quinye people and are elected as a pair, one rules over civil affairs and leads the Senate. The other is the commander of the armed forces and all related business. It is a unique facet of Ha’quinye society that the consuls are usually lovers, and are always women.
The senate is made up of wealthy and influential matricians and are ‘nobility’ of a sort. They make a lot of noise and spend a fair amount of credits, but in reality the triumvirate has complete control, and their cronies in the senate ensure their control over all aspects of Ha’quinye society and especially the economy runs deep. Corruption is simply a part of life in such a system, with greasing palms being a normal cost of doing business at a higher level. Getting a senate endorsement, or the rarer and more coveted consul’s endorsement is highly desirable for the right industries and comes with special tax exemptions among other little goodies.
The role of males, or rather the lack there of, in Ha’quinye society is a significant divergence from galactic norms. Male treatment on their worlds is also a significant bar from the Ha’quinye being admitted to the Council as their discrimination against men is not a ‘quiet’ thing, but something they’re proud of. As on most worlds Ha’qinye society is fiercely matriarchal, but also is strongly promotional of same sex romantic relationships. Not unheard of in the galaxy, but the societal standard for the Ha’quinye is that women seek companionship and affection exclusively from other women.
Men, being rare, are relegated primarily to breeding stock and simply aren’t considered valuable for anything else. As such they are kept, controlled and managed like prized live stock instead of giving much due in the sense of being people and have almost nothing in the way of a public life. Reproduction and family units are distinct within social classes. For example for the matrician class, the elite of the Ha’quinye, do not form marriages around a specific ‘husband’, but instead organize as a lineage, with the matriarch of the family picking out advantageous breeding based on the quality of a candidate male, who is assessed for all possible traits by a government office on each world. Falsifying a higher rating is a very serious form of fraud and prosecuted very harshly.
For actual reproduction, artificial insemination with the pheromones that produce the bond effect known to almost all galactic citizens removed is considered the way to go for high status women as it keeps them independent and mentally clear outside of their clan, but the pregnancy should be natural if at all possible otherwise. It’s best for their daughters after all. For lower class women the ‘natural’ method is generally combined with a pheromone suppressant except in the rare case their family has managed to bring an unrelated male in.
Young girls at the top of society may generally know their father if he’s of such high rating as a stud that their clan paid his original family to ‘secure him’ and bring him into their household, but they won’t really acknowledge him as their parent. He’s their genetic material donor certainly, and a valuable asset to the family that needs to be well cared for and protected, but with about the same level of enthusiasm as Earth’s wealthy have for their race horses in the Anglosphere on Terra.
The animals live better than many actual people do, but they don’t exactly get a lot of love and affection. Women who do love their ‘husband’ are looked at like how a lot of Human society looks at the women known as ‘horse chicks’ here on Earth. Like they’re on the wrong side of being too affectionate with what’s generally a prized animal for it’s labor. Not its companionship. So even by the standards of most galactic men, men of this society are incredibly, brutally lonely in the upper classes. Those with frequent male companionship… Are generally lower class men in truly miserable situations to make up for this minor turn of good fortune.
In the lower classes more familiar clan and family structures to the wider galaxy begin to appear, being diverse aggregates of different genetic lines coming together for mutual benefit and assistance. The bourgeois use their brothers and sons to secure trade negotiations, business partnerships or significant financial gains ala the excellent book A Brother’s Price (Wren, highly recommend for a fantasy spear counterpart to this setting written by a woman without the comedy elements). The working class on the other hand get by on donations, brothels, paying stud fees and so forth, and the galactic ideal of a marriage is far more appealing, and positive intimacy with a male figure in the family more common since it’s harder to lock the ‘male’ away somewhere during the day when he’s not ‘in use’. You do find a few husbands in the working class, usually escaped from either above or below the family socially, and therefore carefully guarded if not outright concealed from people outside the family.
Working class or poor families that get a son, if their boy is ‘used’ strategically, can end up in the lower bourgeois class, but frequently they’ll be exploited and just get money and a discount or free services from whatever stud farm or brothel they sold the poor young male to. There is some very nasty social pressure exploited by bad actors here of a similar attitude to people being judged for mismanaging a resource or abusing a pet. For men, the golden cage is to be fairly nice, but you aren’t leaving except to do your show pony trick and then it’s back to the kennel. So there’s pressure for the poor and working class to provide an ‘appropriate’ environment for their sons. Sometimes they just work harder. Sometimes the desperate get prayed on, or the truly callous just want the pay out and the poor bastard ends up in stud farm (better, sorta) or a brothel (much worse). Kidnappings also happen, but in theory at least that’s pretty severely punished. This is a rare and valuable resource after all.
Fairly covering clothing for men is normal in the upper classes to preserve the skin and general aesthetic perfection the truly elite demand. Not quite to the point of a full on burqa but not far off. The fashion is also common among the upper bourgeois who hope to secure bonds with the upper classes via their children or just aspire to act like the truly wealthy and powerful. Middle class and down unless it’s a fetish thing clothing is clothing, though well made utilitarian, self sizing jump suits and the like are common enough. You don’t get a custom blanket for every horse in the end, just the special one.
Ha’quinye women’s garb tends towards less coverage, with that loss of coverage getting greater the higher up you are in society, to better display one’s good breeding. Unsurprisingly this is a general driver in a lot of romances between Ha’quinye women which trends towards the loud, dramatic and passionate, and public displays of dominance by the ‘superior’ partner or extremely casual public displays affection are normal enough just walking around in the nicer part of a Ha’quinye. From a kiss to sex, especially among the matricians. Working people obviously wear clothing appropriate to their positions. Smelting alloys in a halter top is a great way to learn what severe burns are and get to try out a healing coma a few centuries early. The middle to lower bourgeois and the working class are more conservative about their relationships too, with many finding the excesses of the matricians distasteful to say the least.
While men have no political representation or in theory much in the way of rights, much like the concubines of old on Earth, the men of the elite do manage to pull some bullshit. They’re very rarely permitted to socialize with each other at social events in a heavily guarded space reserved for men. Such a facility is concealed from prying eyes, and is considered a serious mark of prestige and power at an event since families are willing to trust their prized studs on your holdings. A gathering of five men in this sort of setting is a lot. More than ten is unheard of. This is a wonderful opportunity for men to communicate and share information, frequently just for their own benefit but occasionally as back channels for negotiation and discussion between families. These back channels are rarely acknowledged by the ruling senate and the triumvirate so they tend to be used more for corporate politics than normal politics.
Particularly dynamic men who chafe at the limitations placed upon them might dress boldly or engage in dangerous hobbies. This is unseemly but also hard to stop, especially when done in secret. Servants are easily bent to the will of a man who understands his position and his own value, and receive special ‘benefits’ for helping their charges accomplish whatever they seek to do. These lucky servants get to enjoy the closest thing to what’s considered a normal relationship in most of the galaxy. While distasteful to the matrician class, it’s generally tactfully ignored. Mounting a servant now and then is considered an acceptable price to keep a man passive provided he can do his duty to the clan’s actual members when the time comes. That most of those women don’t really understand the intimacy at play also helps, as they’d likely be quite upset at the ‘stud’ carrying on a romantic relationship with a woman under their roof. Most matricians and bourgeois don’t look nearly that closely though. They just know the man of the house behaves as long as he has his favorite wine steward or whatever, so its no different from anything else provided to ensure he’s in good trim and a good investment to the family. For the lovers of these men, any ‘issue’ from their liaison is a significant benefit. These are men noted for being exceptional in looks, intelligence, axiom capabilities, etc. So a few daughters with that man and getting to savor a very illicit romance is plenty of payment for a little smuggling, and a significant boon to the servant’s own line.
For dangerous hobbies, learning sword play in particular is considered a fine hobby among upper class men, and concealing a dagger or other bladed weapon is a normal enough way to present one’s self during daily life. It’s a weird spot for the families because this was traditional at one point when raiding was more common in the pre space flight era, and like many ‘not fun’ societies tradition is a big deal for the upper crust even if a man is far less likely to need to defend his own honor these days.

Habdora • bipedal mammal geovore • 2/100#8
Semi-Aquatic, immensely territorial and very, very easy to provoke. The Habdora fall between extremes. Their purple to pink skin is incredibly tough and naturally paunch looking physique convinces many people that these large semi-aquatic mammals are slow, lazy and peaceful. They are not. However. They also are.
If a Habdora decides they like you, then there is nothing you can do or say to convince them that you are an enemy. If they do not like you then they are completely willing to fight to the death at any moment. And with their disproportionate strength and even more extreme toughness, coupled with brutal combat instincts that include biting off heads with their absurdly powerful jaws… That fight is not a good idea.
When not provoked or engaged a Habdora is generally quite calm and casually sociable. Especially with their own kind. So much so that despite their size, a calm Habdora can outright fade into the background even if they tower over, or massively outmass everyone around them.
This unassuming nature coupled with extreme violence generally confuses everyone that encounters them as these extremes seem to vanish into one another the moment they switch. Making it almost impossible to be intimidated of a calm Habdora and unable to ignore a provoked one.
Hoh'hart • quadrupedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#22
Hailing from a world with unusually low mountains and very little open water. The Hoh’hart began as a tribal species with semi-nomadic lifestyles as they shifted locations from season to season. These Canines are differentiated via the general hue of their tan and brown fur and the patterns between them with striped and spotted being the most common.
The Hoh’hart have powerful jaws and a predilection for bone jewelry, stemming from their more scavenging parts of the lifestyle as their home world, replete with other scavengers rarely has any kind of food available for long. Except for the marrow of bones which the Hoh’hart are the only species capable of routinely cracking open for food. They are the only species capable of this because they deliberately hunted the other species into extinction in the early days of their development.
During Dry Seasons the Hoh’hart enter a mating frenzy characterized by their lips swelling and producing a thin layer of marking oil they kiss onto claimed mates. The lower lip in particular plumps out, leading to a distinct kiss mark. Over the counter suppressant drugs and anti-lust medication will also cause a lesser version of this plumping, leading to the Hoh’hart being generally seen as big lipped scavengers.
Horchka • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#65
A very warlike race with prominent tusks and a very large stature. Strong and straight forward their skin slowly adjusts to the surroundings despite being mammals and they believe in the strongest rule as a whole. Many Horchka stop this natural process, maintaining whatever they consider to be their ‘actual’ skin color, usually a shade of green.
They also view deception as an admittance of weakness which they believe to be a fate worse than death.
If intimidated then they tend to completely shatter rather than merely crack.
Horchka were uplifted in approximately their early bronze age, and didn’t have the social structure needed to keep all but a ghost of their civilization fully intact after being raised to the starts, with the sole major structure still existing from before first contact being the Horchka warrior caste and it’s complex social structure known as the hierarchy. Families move within the hierarchy, but it’s well known that mercenaries are just about the bottom of the pile, while elite groups known as ‘warrior cults’ sit at the top.
With the stratification of their society and very little holding their people truly together the Horchka scattered across the stars, and frequently find themselves in less than legal industries, putting their natural size, strength and aggression to work.

Hydro Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#3
The only amphibious Nagasha sub-species, the Hydro Nagasha tend to favor blues, greens and the occasional bit of yellow coloration. These girls are among the more communal Nagasha and are especially fond of pearl jewelry.
Unlike many other breeds of Nagasha, the Hydro Nagasha are very capable of retaining body heat and even have several small organs throughout their body to warm their blood and this allows them incredible versatility in the water even without considering Axiom based heating. When truly pressed a Hydro Nagasha can outright boil the water around her to great effect in many circumstances.
Ibu • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#44
The Ibu are fractured and divided people. Powerfully built they stand as tall as Lopen and bare some similarities to the Horchka with prominent fangs and general build. They are easily recognized by their vibrant skin colours and horns which separate along the three primary demographics of the blue Ibu’Cjeo, the red Ibu’Wol and the green Ibu’Dwoov. Their natural Axiom expression renders their skin and horns nearly indestructible, leading to a species wide predilection for blunt weaponry and rendering them quick to resort to violence.
The horns are an unusual alteration between the demographics, radically altering the profile of the head and with the smaller details such as thickness, orientation or even colouration changing from family to family. However there are commonalities between the broad groups.
Ibu’Cjeo have a total of six horns each no larger than their thumb. Ibu’Wol have two horns the length of their tallest finger. And the Ibu’Dwoov have a single large horn the length of their hand from the base of the palm to the fingertip. The exact curve of the horns, and position of them change from family to family and can be used to identify relatives at a glance. No horn placement is ever on the back of the head, if one has multiple horns then they are reflected if one were to divide the head along the nose line. No Ibu’Wol horn goes further back than above the ear, and no Ibu’Dwoov horn is further back than the face.
These many different horn patterns and exacting hues of skin, horn and hair colour give the Ibu their demographic and cultural appearances.
Intensely proud and with innumerable ancient grudges across clan and tribal lines the Ibu are an extremely formal and regulated species in public areas, with an equal reputation for debauchery in private.
Thoroughly aware of their own predilections the Ibu generally keep to themselves but simultaneously will hold strangers to their own standards. Leading to many interactions with Ibu beyond the purely professional ending with either threats or violence.

Ikiya • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#22
Mice and Rat women. Actually two races born on the same home world and very close together. Imagine if there was a substantial pygmy population among every major city center and you have the cultural idea of what would be going on.
Ikiya’Ta are the smaller mouse women and Ikiya’Mas are the larger rat women. Both races are highly uncomfortable with open sky above them and endevour to stay under roof, underground or inside a nice safe space ship or station. They’ve been known to have panic attacks during space walks and claw at the equipment with tragic results.
As a species they seem to have a very clean and harmless record at first, but in truth that’s because they believe that by burying the sins of the past you’re killing them. So they make a point of erasing any historical wrongdoings they’ve committed so as to avoid inspiring the next madwoman and causing a repeat of the tragedy. Or worse, learn from it and create an even greater tragedy.
While the Ikiya have generally adopted the common galactic religions as part of being uplifted, they retain one of their core religious or mythological figures, the Warren Father.
Isong • bipedal avian carnivore • 1/100#14
Evolved from the Shifting Frogs of Elsore Five, The Isong are a species that naturally blends in with other species and easily feigns being any number of other races. Quickly adjusting skin color, body language and general persona to blend with their environment. This is an Axiom effect in addition to their incredible jumping ability, long, strong and adhesive tongues and adhesive pads on the palms of their hands and feet that they can use through clothing.
As a people they are intensely curious and very blunt. Often seeking to understand as many things as possible and finding the best solution. But as a moderately unimaginative species they are also prone to simply assuming that the most direct answer to a problem is the best. If the problem is generally nail shaped, then why use anything but a hammer?
The tendency of the Isong to simply blend with local populations makes actually knowing how many are in the area, or the timeline of their species a little hard to understand. According to some of their scholars, The Isong were still animals when they started blending among a colony of Trets on their home world and if they ever stop being with people, they will forgot how to be people. So many Isong are religiously social despite their blunt and unimaginative nature. Thankfully their curiosity serves them well.

Alixi Doolie
Jorgua • multi-limbed reptile carnivore • 2/100#6
This is a very odd species, one that takes advantage of Axiom to biomorph themselves naturally. While anyone of any race can slowly alter themselves with ease the Jorgua have at minimum two, averaging around five, physical configurations. There are several universal traits however. Axiom endowed horns that act as siphons on the local energy fields to help fuel the transformation, hard points of scaled armour to defend their organs in a manner similar to the Platen and powerful claws. The two guaranteed forms are referred to as The Daughter and The Mother.
The Daughter is bipedal with powerful legs and prominent claws upon them. All Jorgua are born and spend most of their youth in this form. The Mother is quadrupedal and has a prominent tail. They’re also eight times the size of The Daughter but otherwise unchanged.
Other shapes are based on culture and need with the number of limbs and their configuration and size changing from form to form. Individual cultures and communities will have certain agreed upon forms and more expressive individuals will have custom bodies unlike those around them. Of course there are only so many practical configurations though so you’re guaranteed to run into duplicates.
Jungle Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#5
The Jungle Nagasha are the longest sub-species of Nagasha, even longer than Primal Nagasha. They average nearly twice the length of Desert or Great Plains Nagasha, with virtually all of their length being in their tails.
Unlike most Nagasha, their torsos are very small compared to their tails. Their tails are incredibly strong, and Jungle Nagasha have a natural ability to imbue their tails with Axiom to drastically increase their strength. While empowering their tails, Jungle Nagasha become strong enough to crush armored vehicles in their coils.
Despite their massive size and tremendous strength, most Jungle Nagasha tend to be gentle, calm, and shy. Their culture is quite reserved when compared to the galactic norm, and they are often stereotyped as being incredibly prudish, similar to the Moshak Nagasha
Kalikas • multi-limbed crustacean omnivore • 1/100#12
Similar to the Wimparas the Kalikas are a species that resembles a humanoid from the thighs on top of another creature. In this case a large crab. Less agile than the Wimparas but with a considerably harder shell and the squatter body means they are generally tougher. They are known for numerous different social rituals that can grow extremely complicated and many of them claim to have started the idea of a courtship dance.
Clawspeech is The written form of the Grasper Kalikas primary language. It’s a sign language that mostly involves gesturing with one lower body claw as the upper body goes through a full gymnastic routine. In written form it’s designed to be easily transcribed into the sand with a leg. The Grasper Kalikas are the ones where the men have one massive oversized claw resembling the Fiddler Crab from Earth.”
Kohb • bipedal reptile omnivore • 1/100#5
An extremely prolific species the galaxy over. Just as small and cartoonishly proportioned as the Gohbs, they’re a very curious race and have a tendency to pull things apart and putting them back together in a similar manner. This is usually applied to living things instead so they tend to make amazing cooks and doctors. If eccentric.
They’re noted for having a near instinctual drive to heal, especially in their communal living situations on their home world and major Kohb colonies, reacting like a body reacting to an injury when an individual in the group is hurt or upset. Despite this, they do not have any form of low level communal consciousness or hive mind. They’re just very empathetic.
There are three general subcategories of Kohb:
The Kohb had a very short, five thousand year, span from animal, to a people who heard radio signals from the stars and built a satellite dish to answer them.
Quite popular with Humans as they resemble small, aggressively stacked dragons in all reality.

Koiran • bipedal mammal omnivore • 8/100#1
The Koiran are a species of bipedal canines that heavily resemble Earth dogs. They have proportionally wider muzzles, and have more omnivorous teeth than domestic dogs do, however. Their women also retain normal galactic proportions. The Koiran people are divided into several different ethnicities, each resembling a different breed of dog, like German Shepherds or Golden Retrievers. The Koiran are a relatively young species, having only been space-fairing for about 700 years. They are very isolationist, largely due to their extreme cultural differences with the rest of the galaxy, resulting from their “overabundance” of men.
On any Koiran world, no woman is permitted to make sexual or romantic advances towards any man she is not already bound to. At least, not without the explicit permission of the man’s father, mother, and clan-mother (assuming the clan-mother is not also his biological mother).
Mistreating a man will usually get a woman lynched on a Koiran world. By tradition, they treat every man as a brother or son. This culture gives Koiran men near unheard of freedom of movement. Men are also permitted, and even encouraged, to get jobs. Men are even allowed into the military, though it is very hard for them to get into direct combat roles.
The Koiran systems are all heavily fortified; each person, male or female, is drafted into the system militia, where they are trained to fight and defend themselves. Women are drafted for five years, and men are drafted for two; both are drafted at the age of eighteen. Ownership of weapons, even heavy weapons, is near universal on the Koiran worlds.
The Koiran themselves are not united at all, they are divided into many tribes, anywhere from three tribes, to several dozen, controlling each planet. These tribes are made up of dozens to hundreds of family clans. These tribes pool their resources to fund their system militias, and mostly use Koiran-built ships and equipment.
Kruga/Agurk • bipedal mammal herbivore • 2/100#2
This very strong race of evolved ape women have two sub-species that interbreed seamlessly. The Tailed and Untailed. There were previously race wars in the past and there is still a large amount of aggression between the two species.
Kruga are stronger and much heavier than the Agurk who are much swifter and have tails strong enough to hang from. Kruga are much more naturally industrious, but the Agurk are much more curious and prone to exploration.
Normally this would be considered two different races, however the differences between Kruga and Agurk actually occurs in early childhood. Both races are identical until puberty, but the pressures and environment then determines which of the two races they will become once they start growing quickly.
After first contact was established, both Kruga and Agurk were shocked and confused to find that they were having members of the opposite race develop in their family. DNA investigations determined they were simply one species that had to adapt quickly to either a dense forest or coastline form in order to survive.
Studies showed that there is no Primal Kruga or Agurk despite initial excitement.
Lette • bipedal insect omnivore • 1/100#18
Another instance where a single planet has produced multiple fully realized races. The Begrob and Lette reached a fairly advanced age and actually initiated their own First Contact by finding and hacking a communication pylon both literally and digitally. The primitive rocket ship was then carried back to it’s origin point and First Contact proper was made. By this point in their development the Begrob and Lete peoples had interbred so much as to be considered a single species despite clear and pointed differences in the fully formed adult body.

Exceedingly agile and with a protein requirement often seen in carnivores, these squirrel women are nuts for nuts, but also nuts in general as they’re incredibly stubborn with a species wide case of tunnel vision. Once they set their minds on a singular goal it’s effectively already achieved, it’s just a matter of the legalities of things actually being done needing to happen.
Lopen • quadrupedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#17
A canine like species with a great build for speed and a large stature. A large stature often disguised by the fact that they have only four limbs but lope about upon them to move. When standing upright they tower over most races in the galaxy and their predatory instincts and natural concern for pack make them excellent leaders and prone to using intimidation when upset.
Notable Lopen:
Agenda Lilpaw
Incerra Palashen
Lutrin • bipedal insect herbivore • 1/100#3
Green Skinned Space babes with antenna. They’re very sensitive to Axiom and very communal with a tendency to gather in huge groups. The species as a whole is rather similar looking to one another with the differences between one another being mostly in the Axiom field. This is due to specific gene tailoring for cultural reasons.
When you see one Lutrin there’s at least a dozen more nearby, and that’s at a minimum.
Lydris • multi-limbed reptile carnivore • 1/100#43
One of the few multi bodied beings in the galaxy. It’s as if someone had taken a dozen TRC 3/100 #1 and merged the tails together halfway down into one mega tail along with a massive pair of powerful legs to hold the mess upright. They can have anywhere from three to a dozen bodies together.
Their minds are linked by Axiom style biological radios and can be living weapon platforms when needed. As one would guess, they tend to find themselves in mercenary and military work where the sheer amount of eyes, hands and destructive capacity can be put to great use.
Some Lydris risk developing a genetic condition known as Prime Mind Disorder.
Notable Lydris:
Dare’Char
Merra • bipedal piscine carnivore • 1/100#6
A vaguely toxic species of amphibian with paralytic poison in their nails and barbs these girls are capable of launching needles from under their nails at ballistic speeds and their fins are almost impervious to attack. Their sharp edges make them exceptional melee weapons and they tend to bond fairly hard with whatever men they fall in with. Very independent they don’t like being bossed around, but melt if it’s their husband.
Metak • multi-limbed mammal omnivore • 1/100#15
At a first glance they are short blue skinned women however they have tiny shape shifting wings that are the result of Axiom endowed evolution. They are skilled in flight and appear to have evolved from some form of bat. They are often born in groups of two to five and such siblings often follow one another in all walks of life. They are known for their mobility and propensity for running messages and their natural speed and agility serves those in military functions well.
Miak • bipedal reptile carnivore • 1/100#25
Bipedal serpents that originally shared what appeared to be the same evolutionary path of the Nagasha. Then it split of dramatically with the onset of legs and the refusal to develop hair at all as their bodies refused to develop skin over thin scales. The Miak are noted for their grace and teasing demeanor most of the time and are known to have Axiom tattoos inscribed into their hoods.
There is a tradition among Miak that whenever they shed they dedicate themselves to a new goal. New me, new destination.
Notable Miak:
Nkla Osier
Admiral Crosswind
Mnenmi • bipedal crustacean carnivore • 1/100#3
Octopus woman. Or rather a completely bald woman with eight tentacles coming out the back of her head, they come in a variety of flavors such as grape, strawberry, blueberry and kiwi apparently. Each tentacle is fully articulate and capable of gripping, manipulating with even more dexterity, but less force than their arms. These people can accurately shoot ten guns at once and are well known multi-taskers.
Famous among Humans for a slight resemblance to a well known fictional alien race from a beloved video game franchise. Mnenmi women with a taste for mammalian companionship have been known to exploit this angle rather readily.
Moshak Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#8
‘Mighty’ in an Ancient Nagasha tongue, these girls live up their names, exceeding even most of the Primals in raw scale, the Moshak Nagasha otherwise resemble a Great Plains Nagasha, just scaled up to a size where a pissed off Moshak can crush a Cannidor in her coils. Their scales are exceptionally durable and can resist most natural weapons and take a surprising amount of weapons fire.
Save that, Moshak Nagasha are in fact one of the more calm Nagasha sub-species and are noted for their generally friendly dispositions, as well as giving the best hugs in the known galaxy. Just make sure you’re up on your reinforcement, just in case. Those rumors about accidental crushings are probably nonsense, but why take the risk?
Moshak in general have very strong mothering instincts, and combined with their generally calm demeanours makes some of the more aggressive Nagasha sub species deride Moshak as ‘milk snakes’.
Notable Moshak Nagasha:
Chaisa Rauxtim
Mrega • quadrupedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#6
This hoofed and brightly colored species is one of the more Axiom reliant races in the galaxy.
Culturally, they are prone to obsessive pursuit of their interests, they can be found in a dizzying array of professions as incredibly enthusiastic experts in their fields of choice. They also favor “on-the-nose” names and descriptors; “The clearer something is named, the more clearly it can be communicated.”
They are naturally very skilled with Axiom use and can channel it more readily than can be expected in most species, to the point that their idea of basic Axiom training is what’s required for most other races to achieve expert level.
This combination of obsession and power has led to many races being annoyed with the race and they’re often regarded as well meaning fools.
Notable Mrega:
Epona Morathi
Lavender Trot
Admiral Sparklehooves
Muffis • bipedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#17
Cold weather adapted, a human would see a sheep woman and then be very confused as to why both men and women have horns. It’s a bit more varied than that however as they’re far more adaptive to warmer weather than any sheep.
The advent of heating and wearing more comfortably clothing also means that they rarely grow their full body of wool anymore and generally just have fluffy growths on the part of their bodies they leave exposed. Excepting the hands, hoofs and face of course.
They seem placid at first, but the Muffis are a very quietly stubborn people, often outright ignoring things they don’t like and when backed into a corner come out swinging every time.
Tend to move in small groups and have a well known tendency to gifting men they’re interested with clothing knitted from their own wool.
Muttra • bipedal mammal omnivore • 4/100#13
An entirely artificial species roughly five centuries of age. Created through a combination of Furless Rabbis and Koiran DNA they were initially introduced to the galaxy during one of the very many failed attempts to commodify mass produced boyfriends. Unlike many previous attempts in the past these ones proved more stable than most and proved to be a completely stable species capable of full on reproduction and even producing females of their own kind. This led to the first century of their existence having many more males than females, but the demographic odds eventually swung back into favour of females and they settled on being a species having more males than average, but not an exceptional number.
As a species the Muttra have fallen into the Entertainment, Artisan and Service industries with a gusto. Their small stature and childlike demeanor is regarded as near universally charming but they also have an exceptional ear and eye for detail leading to them flourishing as voice actors, skilled tradeswomen and all sorts of hosts, servers and more. Furthermore, in military terms they can often be found as scouts, trackers or combat mechanics with their exceptionally powerful ears allowing them to diagnose many issues by hearing alone.
Physically they resemble Tret children with pale skin, expressive faces and either pastel or pure white or black hair. Massive ears stick up out of their hair and fuzzy tails bounce behind them as they move. They’re mildly taller than other short races like Gohbs or Kohbs, but their slighter stature and high energy makes even fully grown adults easily mistaken as children.
Narlabore • multi-limbed insect omnivore • 1/100#17
The Narlabore, or the Gnarled ones are a species of nominally quadrupedal insect that resemble a moving rock more than any form of natural life. These insectoid aliens evolved in a system that had numerous massive asteroids in the green zone for life development.
With a little luck, a little axiom, and some comet impacts what started as a rock munching bacteria eventually evolved into the Narlabore, a creature that carries it’s own natural atmosphere like the space rocks that birthed them. Eating rocks and soil is a critical part of their diet. Though as they evolved they began to need more protein. Something they usually acquired via cannibalism pre space flight.
Not unlike the Floric… meat is meat to a Narlabore. Something of a centaur shape, the upper body tends to be hidden by the rough, rocky outer shell by laying back along the lower spine. The eyes can extend on stalks to see in this position, and work is done with large crushing claws mounted forward on the lower body. The upper body is allegedly as aesthetically pleasing as any galactic creature, and have a pair of arms suited for fine manipulation but has rarely been observed. While theoretically capable of mating with non-Narlabore viably, it simply has not happened to galactic knowledge.
It has also been observed that a large number of Narlabore females appear to be undeveloped or infertile, like many insect hives this may be part of the Narlabore’s survival strategy, but again very little is known about this part of their life cycle.
Narlabore spend their lives in tight clans that make Vulbaa and Charbis Hives look like free spirited communes. The best of these serve in skilled trades in ship yards or in asteroid mining. The worst become brutal pirates who are just as likely to eat their captives as rob them.
No Narlabore male has ever been observed. Researchers attempting to reach that most intimate part of a Narlabore hive, even a friendly hive, were universally killed and devoured, so their 1/100 rating remains questionable.
Njyhd • quadrupedal reptile carnivore • 1/100#43
A large and aggressive species of quadrupeds draconids that can exhale and sheath themselves in elemental effects similar to Erumenta. The Niyhd are incredibly well armored with their scales and dense bone structure. On the downside their extreme physiology means they require huge amounts of meat compared to most species and cannot swim in any capacity, giving the entire species an aversion to water deeper than a puddle.
They stand anywhere from seven to nine feet tall at the shoulder and only rarely, and only with help, stand up on their comparatively short hind legs. Most locomotion comes from the incredible powerful, but still dexterous forelimbs that are also armored in multiple ways.
They are known to carry grudges, but are civilized enough to not simply murder people for the sake of an insult. They generally stay in very loose families spread out over a large area to give one another all the space they need, with any gathering place being neutral ground between otherwise contentious and feuding family members.

Nyrrh • multi-limbed xeno omnivore • 0/100#9
A species whose naming conventions are essentially genealogical scrolls. Each Nyrrhs name reflects several generations of bonded ancestors, it is essentially just an ancestry list of who hooked up with whom.
The Nyrrh are quite rare by galactic standards but that is probably because they are difficult to distinguish from the other races. They adapt their form based on the instinctual desires of those they wish to bond with. The process, called integrative pairing by biologists, is complex, deeply personal, and always mutual. Nyrrh can only bond with someone who genuinely loves them, not just the form they wear.
This mimicry had actually led to some legal problems for the Nyrrh in the early days, as they often took on the appearance of celebrities, be they real or fictional, when trying to seduce a man but the problem had self corrected.
The tragedy of their species is that their bonding only works if the male truly loves them, not who they think they are. So as a species they had almost entirely stopped mimicking celebrities because the person would fall in love with the mimicked celebrity and not the person doing it. Worse still, the Nyrrh have no males. Reproduction relies entirely on successful bonding with male members of other species. And such bonds are vanishingly rare.
Though not related to Slohbs, the Nyrrh, polymimetic cytosapient xenocytes, do share the trait of possessing a vital cognitive nexus. For the Nyrrh however, this is a collective nucleus of specialized cells rather than the solid core seen in Slohbs. Both species are also similar in that they undergo a budding process when reproducing, though the requirements are different.
Orhanas • tentacled mammal omnivore • 1/100#211
A newly discovered Amphibious Mollusk Species, the Orhanas are easily identified by their extreme aversion to sunlight and their natural glow. This soft species is extremely resilient otherwise to the point that war games with full clubs and spears is considered a normal state of affairs. The ethnicity of the Orhanas can be easily deciphered by their natural coloration and is tied to their unusual secondary reproduction method. A lack of a glow indicates an Orhanas of extremely advanced age or physical injury, in particular a burn.
While the Orhanas can reproduce with other races of the galaxy and each other as normal, each ethnicity of Orhanas has a sacred ancestor who’s colouration they match. This Ancestor is a mindless, but seemingly immortal and will break off portions of it’s anatomy which will then rapidly shift into an infant Orhanas. All Orhanas alive are either directly broken off from or descendant of one if not more sacred ancestors.
Culturally the Orhanas are a primitive but dignified species organizing themselves around the Sacred Heirs, males who’s lives are dedicated to diplomacy, historical instruction, education and breeding. Serving as both a community leader and communal husband. These males have no name but instead a number and the name of their ancestor.
hese ancestors are Rauda, Vathon, Galdu, Asva, Lmav, Hayth, Wurra and Durrua. Their colours are White, Pink, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, Orange and Bright Red in that order. The females of the species work along all levels of society and both men and women can and will serve on The Sacred Choir, a priest class among the species that care directly for The Sacred Ancestors.
In conclusion, the Orhanas are a very young, but long lived and enduring species who despite their youth have a strong culture and long view of the galaxy seeking self betterment over self indulgence.
Osadubb • bipedal mammal omnivore • 2/100#33
A very thickly and toughly built Ursine species. Short by Cannidor Standards and tall by Tret standards, they’re slightly shorter than the Lopen at eight feet in height at average, but generally the extremely thick muscles under their fur and fat reserves draw attention.
Culturally they are a very reclusive and peaceful people until pressed or in desperation, at which point they become unrelentingly aggressive until all traces of the problem are dealt with. They tend to focus more on food in their lives and can be usually found in the food industry. They live by feast and famine, often spending all their money on food after their rent and such is taken care of and eating it all in one sitting. They can then live off this for multiple months and are capable of hibernation.
As a species they have evolved from the dangerous Endura Bears of Osadu, capable of shrugging off even heavy weapons fire these beasts were hunted extensively before they began flash evolving to survive and ended up as a people. Causing their former hunters to become their sponsors.
If you want to find them in the modern day, look to Charbis and Vulbaa Hives. They like sticking near the sources of their food. Yes, the bears are stalking bees.
Panseros • quadrupedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#20
Pitch black nocturnal hunters these distant relatives of the Feli are much more comfortable on all fours and in general have very little to say. A very quiet species they are known for sudden and dangerous outbursts of emotion as they tend to stew in their thoughts until they explode. Much like the QMC #17 they are considerably larger than one would first consider and rival the Lopen in size.
Fiercely independent it’s considered a sign of immaturity to live anywhere near one’s mother or family when they reach maturity and as such the race has scattered widely across the galaxy. They use their natural talent for stealth and absurd patience to pounce on opportunities when they arise and are NOT to be underestimated.
Interestingly they may soon be reclassified as bipedal mammals as many Panseros walk exclusively on two legs, the species being somewhat ‘in flux’ at present. Further compounding this strange fluctuation is the immergence of some intraspecies racism primarily by bipedal Panseros deriding their quadrupedal fellows, the most ‘snooty’ of whom straight-up calling them animals.
Panseros of Note:
Bari Bridger
The Twin Shot Snipers
Pavorus • winged avian carnivore • 1/100#13
One of the most vain races the galaxy over the Pavorus are peacock harpy women to the bafflement of most humans. A very proud people they justify their mannerisms by reminding others that they are swift in flight and skilled in axiom use being able to channel it down their enormous tail feathers to harden and sharpen them into enormous blades. Duels between them tend to resemble aerial dances as they refuse to use their claws and only bring their tails to bear.
Phinsara • winged mammal omnivore • 1/100#47
This race resembles a Tret with four wings, one pair erupting from the upper back and another from the hips. Having so many wings is odd enough as is, but odder by far are the unusual organs hidden under the feathers. Specialized Plates composed in the same methodology as a Dzedin head crest, effectively giving them an additional two eyes on each side of each wing.
This sheer mobility and power of perception gives the Phinsara a deserved reputation for incredible trackers, rangefinders and having an attention to detail that dwarfs that of most species.
Many Phinsara live large portions of their lives relying upon their wingsight alone by blindfolding themselves and it is considered a moral statement of intent to see things clearly.
Phinsara criminals will occasionally cut out their own eyes as an utterly savage intimidation method and will reopen the wounds to interrogate people without actually touching their victims. This method has a very high rate of success due to the sheer madness of the act in question terrifying almost any sane being.
Phosa • bipedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#3
A species well known for their grace and unusual attentiveness, the long eared Phosa seem to be cousins to the Rabbis and the Feli at the same time if not for their vulpine features and their unusual glowing patches along their dark pelts.
Phosa have incredibly sensitive hearing and very powerful voices that can be enhanced with axiom. Skilled members of the species have been known to create powerful feedback loops with the sounds they hear using Axiom and can tear buildings apart with sonic vibration alone. Generally peaceful, those that aren’t are large enough exceptions to make many people nervous.
Very popular with Humans. It’s been speculated that the glowing spots on a Phosa’s fur lures in curious Human men like a lamp luring in a moth.
Notable Phosa:
Milintra Damasci
Ouran Dalshek
Platen • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#48
Armadillo women with a tendency to go into bodyguard, police and military work . The armor is mostly on the sides of the legs and arms and forms what’s basically a corset under the breasts to keep the organs safe.
Primal Nagasha • tentacled reptile carnivore • 1/100#1
The original species from which all other Nagasha races descend and the first emergence of a Primal in the known galaxy. These much larger than average Nagasha are covered in Axiom infused markings that glow at all times and have the unique gift of rejuvenating shedding where they can outright alter their physiology when they shed their skin, an event that occurs every five years.
This allows them to shift to develop rattles, fins and gills, fan like tails, multiple arms or to even grow younger and heal grievous wounds, up to and including lost limbs. It was the studying of this process that helped develop the healing comas that have granted much of the galaxy their longevity and incredible health standards.
A Primal Nagasha will only give birth to another Primal Nagasha in extremely stress free or extremely stressful circumstances. A fear for one’s life or no concerns in the slightest are required to create more Primals, leading them to be rather rare as while the fear of death is much less common, so too is a life carefree.
Known Primal Nagasha:
Grandmother - The First Primal
Aizail - The Lost Souls, Deceased
Altiarta - The Mother of War
Bazalash - Primal Goddess of Justice
Ezsalizia - Murderer, Deceased
Galsceera - The Seeker
Hallissiana - Primal Queen
Hsarris - The Bringer of War
Liazia - The Lost Souls, Deceased
Rikaxza - Primal Goddess of Freedom and Opportunity
Salsharin - aka Uncle Love, Primal God of Love
Thassalia - Lady of War
Yserizan White Flow - The Lost, survivor of Lakran 297
Zhaltraki - Ward of Bazalash
Zlathris - The Ender of War
Quendarat • quadrupedal mammal carnivore • 2/100#4
A very, very, very tough and reclusive species. The Quendarat have chosen to not expand beyond their home system despite the multiple centuries since first contact. Primarily quadrupeds, the Quendarat are capable of balancing on their hind legs and using their forefeet as hands for a time. But it is considered a display of exceptional balance and grace to walk on their hind legs. Their limbs are also so stumpy and bodies so squat that they go from five foot tall at the shoulder when on all fours to six foot at the shoulder when balanced on the hind legs.
They are very powerfully built and covered in a thick defensive hide that rivals Platen Armour plating, but more flexible. Despite this the species is shockingly fast on all fours and coupled with the nearly unbreakable horn coming out of their forehead are capable of piercing starship hulls with a full charge and severely denting the bulkheads with minimal Axiom assistance.
As their home system is surrounded on all sides by Mekken Reach systems, they have agreed to be part of the Reach, but it is also openly stated they have only done so in order to be better left alone. Personality wise they are immensely patient and impatient at the same time. The way this works is that there is a proper way of addressing one another, and if you do not follow these rules then you are an ignorant child until you do. Therefore you are to be tolerated and protected, but otherwise ignored. If you seek to learn the rules then that is the fault of your parents. They are aware of the cultural difficulties this brings about but do not care. It keeps the peace within their own society and that is all that truly matters to them. It’s no real mystery why they haven’t made a large impact on the galaxy at large. They just want to be left alone.
Rabbis • bipedal mammal herbivore • 1/100#32
Four armed rabbit women with mind bending reflexes. If not for the extra arms they’d look like Human women in cosplay. They don’t use axiom to achieve their amazing reflexes but when they augment them with it they are said to dodge laser blasts. They’re usually in the service industry or military as their multiple strong arms and quick reflexes have plenty of use in both fields.
Seramali • multi-limbed avian carnivore • 2/100#3
The huntresses of Seramal are a unique band in that they were not uplifted by an advanced species despite being discovered relatively late in the Federation’s discovery process. Technically a classic Bipedial Mammal, their most distinctive feature is a large pair of feathered wings and striking tail feathers. Wings were vital to moving around on their craggy homeworld, along with their powerful talons which can grip into stone. The Seramali are otherwise primarily classed as tool users.
Their other most distinctive feature is a rare set of double eyes that isn’t commonly seen in mammals. Each set is optimized for a different vision range. Seramali also possess the capability to see in several different vision bands While naturally quite skilled with axiom, the Seramali culturally minimize it’s use outside of combat, it being a point of pride to be able to “bear one’s burdens with one’s own wings”. As such Seramali tend towards being quite physically fit on average.
Some Seramali take this to extremes and avoid the use of advanced technology, but this group is a minority within the species.
Shallax • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#195
Official first contact with the Shallax was conducted approximately 100 years prior to the current date per the galactic calendar. However, many believe the Shallax were among the galactic community several decades before hand. Another rare species that reached the stars and discovered FTL travel without outside assistance, the Shallax are noted for their remarkable gifts with stealth that rival even the vaunted Yauya.
Where the Yauya naturally vanish from the visual spectrum, the Shallax can blend themselves into an environment at every possible level, including merging into the local axiom.
The only sign that a Shallax might be in the room that doesn’t want to be found is a slight deepening of the shadows in that room. Rumors persist that Shallax can teleport from shadow to shadow, but if this is true it’s never been proven.
Seemingly the perfect spies and agents, the Shallax are actually far better scouts of all flavors, as their culture is extremely forthright so duplicity can be a problem for them. This does not stop them being excellent observers, investigators, and as mentioned military scouts. The rare Shallax who can train in spycraft will inevitably find herself in high demand by the agency that trains her.
Shallax personal interactions are extremely touch focused, as the Shallax understandably believe most other senses can be deceptive.
A common greeting among the Shallax involves each clasping the other’s forearm with their hands. A gentle touch on the forearm or shoulder of the person they’re speaking with is a normal prelude to a Shallax beginning to speak in a conversation.
Shallaxian marriage rituals are almost entirely unknown, as the Shallax are an extremely private people on the whole despite how up front they can be about their intentions. There’s some references to ‘the binding of shadows’, but if anyone who isn’t a Shallax or married to a Shallax knows what that is or what it means, they aren’t talking.
They have a cultural beef with the Alfar that’s dissolved from border skirmishes to planetary scale pranks, such as defacing an entire moon. Many Humans seem to find this particular rivalry hilarious for unknown reasons.
Notable Shallaxians:
Nadiri Bridger
Skarrh • bipedal insect carnivore • 1/100#35
The Skarrh are a bipedal, insectile race of nomads. Their plantigrade legs end in two-toed feet capped with sharp talons and a non-articulated spike/talon on their heels. They have fours arms, each ending in a hand with two fingers and a thumb capped by much duller talons than their feet. Their heads are almost squarish in shape, with a shock of typically short hair on top. They have four eyes of a solid color, and a human-like mouth (complete with human-like lips) - though their jaws are filled with needle-sharp teeth.
Skarrh have a pair of insectile mandibles that sit beside their ““normal”” mouth. These mandibles end in sharpened claws and can be quite dangerous if used in combat, especially if used to hold prey an enemy in place so the Skarrh can tear into their hapless victim with their teeth. The mandibles move subconsciously with the Skarrh’s mood; moving to cover the mouth when the Skarrh is anxious, reaching forward and flaring out when they are angry, pulling back and tucking in when the Skarrh is happy, etc.
The Skarrh are covered in large plates of armor-like carapace, with gaps exposing their soft skin. The females have large gaps in very…specific locations to facilitate their normal appearance. A Skarrh’s carapace isn’t actually hard and rigid, but is instead pliable, though not exactly ““soft”“. Their carapace is very similar in it’s pliability and overall ““feel”” to very stiff leather, but is significantly more durable than this might imply.
The Skarrh’s most unusual feature is their growth cycle. A Skarrh will be roughly as tall as a human once they reach biological adulthood, but through means almost completely unknown to the wider galaxy, a Skarrh can grow much larger than that. The largest Skarrh ever seen stood head and shoulders above most Cannidor, though any Skarrh anywhere near that size will almost always be in a leadership position within their fleet.
The vast majority of Skarrh live in large nomad fleets that travel from one end of the galaxy to other constantly. All Skarrh live by a strict code of honor, but each nomad fleet defines their own honor code, and some are very loose indeed. While most Skarrh make their living as merchants, junkers, and scavengers, the few fleets that practice piracy, smuggling, or worse have given the entire species a reputation as scoundrels and addicts.”
Slohb • multi-limbed liquid omnivore • ?/100#1
A morphic and gelatinous race that primarily identifies as female due to the entire galaxy being so female. The central core of the being is a hyper dense piece of gel that can regrow the rest given time and nutrients, the memory and personality are stored here.
There are several different subspecies of these beings:
#1.1 The Common Slohb is a small, randomly colored being that is effectively a teen girl made of slime.
#1.2 The Burning Slohb has stronger acid.
#1.3 The Big Slohb is known for taking a larger form with a triple sized core.
#1.4 The Mega Slohb is enormous and splits into a small unit of individuals that are connected at the base. Their core is massively bumpy as it’s numerous cores that came together, usually the result of a division that failed either on accident or deliberately.
#1.5 The Multi Slohb, basically a Mega Slohb but much smaller.
There are many other types however they are very uncommon. As a species Slohbs tend to be very easily distracted and spacy, but when fed certain chemicals they change behavior in a hurry to match it.
Despite being rather confusing to the majority of the galaxy, Slohbs do have their own culture and indeed mythology.
Snict • multi-limbed insect carnivore • 1/100#8
Praying Mantis women. Very dangerous with their upper arm scythes they either walk on two legs or fly as convenient. The flying is exhausting but effective. They have a not underserved reputation for cannibalism as there’s a degenerate mental disorder that pops up within the species that causes otherwise respectable citizens to become cannibals. It’s not spoken of in polite company.
There are six general subcategories of Snict, distinguished by their shells and shell parts:
Most Snict in the Galaxy are the Leaf Snict. Culturally they’re the most outgoing followed by the Bark, Sand, and Stone Snict.
Soran • multi-limbed mammal omnivore • 1/100#8
An extreme cold water adapted species of mammal. Just as comfortable walking across great flows of ice as they are swimming in seawater so cold it’s turning to slush. Superficially they resemble Merra with slight fins on their person and the addition of a large tail to help with swimming, but the fins are thicker, and every bit of skin on the body is reinforced with an Axiom Enhanced layer of thin blubber that keeps them warm no matter the situation.
This blubber is of immense use, but thankfully can be harvested from the Sahrarn Whales of their home world, of which the Soran are actually descended from. The meat is delicious, the blubber is of incredible value as it allows the creation of Axiom Aligned plastics and other oil based products.
Despite spending over half their lives in water the Soran are still mammals and cannot breathe underwater. But they can hold their breath for such extreme periods of time that they can spend multiple days without breathing. Which has given them a reputation of being rather reckless when it comes to operating in vacuum settings.
Synth
Technically a species in their own right but also any possible species, Synths are the result of full body cyberization or a neural upload, either transferring the original organic over, or by the creation of an ‘engram’ which can be duplicated off of an organic individual. Using exotic materials that engram or upload can then be developed into the ‘core’ of a full synth, around which a synthetic body can be developed. This body must be shaped like their parent species or the engram will experience massive dysphoria.
For those of you following along at home, yes, this means even the robots have giant tits.
They’re not just for show either. Appropriately equipped Synths can lactate to nurse organic children, and most female synths are equipped with glass wombs which will allow them to bear live young, or lay eggs as appropriate for their species, either working off an egg or sperm saved from their organic body if they were ascended, or donated appropriate tissue from a parent or sibling which will generally have a degree of genetic modification from the ‘base line sample’.
Synth Ascendancy developed chassis generally have full on bio printers which based off a Synth’s core and engram will produce appropriate reproductive material for the synth in question’s body, allowing them to participate in organic reproduction fully with an organic or synthetic partner, though two synths choosing to have organic children together is rare.
Synths can also have children via the production of an engram, and if they wish to have that child ‘with’ their partner, with appropriate equipment, can produce a merged engram that will be something new based off both parents, a literal child of the parent’s minds.
Synths tend to operate in two modes in relation to organic society. Open circuit synths are fully integrated with organic society. Closed circuit synths on the other hand live primarily apart from organics, preferring the unique comforts and features of synthetic society such as extremely efficient communication and special options for communion and fellowship like the Communion Matrix.
Few religious synths are open circuit and there are indeed full on synth religions that range from very placid to the terrifying ‘Flesh Haters’. They’re generally opposed by a variety of Anti-Synth Extremists, though it’s worth noting that extreme anti-organic branches of Synthetic society tend to be destroyed by Synthetic forces long before they can become a serious threat or gain much steam.
Synths tend to be extremely talented hackers and very knowledgeable on just about any subject, in addition to their bodies being incredibly powerful even without specific combat augmentation.
Marian Le Fae of the Undaunted had an illegal engram pulled from her while she was under a healing coma, and that engram later came into possession of the Synth Ascendancy church at one of their remote Wild Space stations where the engram was furnished with a body and granted the name Avia.
Notable Synths:
Kati Downshift
Avia Le Fae

Takra • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#16
A very human looking species the Takra generally produce large numbers of athletic tan skinned maidens with feline ears and tails, their fur and hair colors generally ranging from silver to platinum blonde, with a reputation for being lithe and beautiful and able to tie just about anyone into a pretzel. Their looks aside, the Takra are a fairly militaristic species with a desire to be stronger than others and the capacity to do so. Their prominent canines and highly predatory behavior would suggest a carnivore but they’re actually omnivores due to the fierce competition for food on their home world. This caused them to develop a culture based on martial excellence and personal exceptionalism as well as an aggressive streak.
Unfortunately as a race this has caused them to butt heads with many other Apex races and due to their shapeshifting abilities they are often quick to attack and slow to broker for peace. However breakaway colonies and individuals have been known to be much more peaceful and once an individual has gotten past the initial defensiveness they start to show that they have in fact evolved from felines much like the Panseros and Feli and show their affections in similar ways.
The Shapeshifting ability is more limited than that of a Jorgua but more intense as well, causing their animalistic War Form to go berserk and has been proven to be nigh unstoppable in battle. These forms can be personally customized through meditation but always shows the traits of a Takra’s ancestry.
A pure blooded Takra without any deviation in their bloodline for at least three generations transforms into an immense feline predator with gigantic forward teeth that run with Axiom. They have been known to bite clean through power armor and mechanized suits in this state. Those with more exotic ancestry will show this ancestry while in the War Form and while the species as a whole is somewhat insular, they are usually very impressed with exotic and unusual War Forms, especially if it’s capable of more than most.
Notable Takra:

Tret • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#3
One of the oldest races in the galaxy and fairly ubiquitous, one of the hundred founders of The Federation of Systems. They are effectively Human but make heavy use of Axiom energy and have little in the way of comparative pain tolerance and other such abilities. A few generations in Cruel Space (if they could survive initially of course) and they would, in theory, become Human, or at least extremely Human-like.
This is what Humans are generally mistaken for. Most people only make that mistake once.
Triii • bipedal mammal omnivore • ?/?#1
One of the most feared races in the galaxy and a creature that is never brought up in polite company. The Triii are an extremely shy species who’s natural defenses make them utterly repulsive to the galaxy at large. Physical contact with these creatures can completely destroy Axiom Constructs and cause dangerous explosions.
They are borderline immune to Axiom effects because of this and a fair amount of technology is useless to them requiring them to use analogue equivalents. Culturally the Triii are extremely gun-shy and nervous due to their longtime treatment by the galaxy, but their own communal nature as primates pushes them to reach out constantly. Imagine if a spider monkey walked completely upright, had no tail and its entire body, except it’s hands, feet and eyes were covered in long hair often kept immaculately clean and well brushed.
Unfortunately for the Triii despite their main feature being an incredible Axiom defense that causes them to buck almost every trend imaginable they are still reliant on Axiom to survive and have NO resistance to toxins. Furthermore since most races find them repellent they’ve been forced to the backroads and outskirts of all parts of the galaxy and are often seen as primitive and crude despite an incredibly empathetic nature.
Tragically there will be few, if any other races like them due to a concerted effort by a paranoid and skittish galaxy to hunt down Axiom repelling predators, negating the chance for many races to evolve.
One thing the Trii do have going for them? Humans universally find the Trii absolutely adorable, have no fear of them and have absolutely no issues interacting with them, with the Undaunted quickly becoming a Trii trading partner as Trii derived technology, especially drive cores, could potentially make for more advanced Cruel Space safe engines.
Notable Trii:
Alrinoth of Barkbinder Clan
Talinor of Longleaf Clan
Tural • bipedal mammal carnivore • 1/1#57
A Semi-Aquatic Mammalian species, the Tural are capable of naturally having a bubble of clean air at the end of their nose. This allows them to swim for periods of time that rival amphibians. Couple with their natural ferocity and curiosity the Tural are rarely found near the civilized parts of the galaxy.
They also have a very curious tradition relating to the Axiom Resonating Pearls of their home world. The Tural Pearls, produced by Deep Ocean Vathia Clams (Spear Clams), are a combination of holy symbol, engagement ring and proof of skill all in one. With accomplished Tural using the pearls during important moments of their life. The Pearl Necklace, which can form a powerful Axiom Totem, is proof of skill and ability only pearls personally won in battle against another Pearl User or the Vathia Clams themselves will do. Pearl Tail Bands are a sign of marriage and Pearl Wrist Bands signs of station.
A non-Tural having Tural Pearls is seen as a deep and personal insult to any Tural and there have been numerous scandals due to this.
Urthani • winged insect omnivore • 1/100#9
This moth based species is a study in contradictions. In their normal comfortable states they are extremely timid and generally harmless in almost every regard. Capable of creating silk they often trade it for more resources and are content to live very quiet lives. Until the rains come. The Urthani by instinct rely on their antenna to detect the world around them and then go to extremes when they can’t sense through them. It’s similar to nearly blind animals, the uncertainty makes them obsessive with lust and violence on an instinctual level.
Resembling a cross between a silk moth and a human Urthani are almost ethereal in appearance, thin wispy bodies, fur that dances in the slightest breeze, large lamplike eyes and strange claws that look more like they’ve grabbed a trinity of black rocks they seem like something out of a child’s dream, or perhaps a plush toy brought to life. Yet their physical construction is extremely practical.
The claws are sharp, strong and serrated, designed to dig into the wood of trees to assist with resting in a vertical position. They can also go through skin and bone just as easily and with only a touch of Axiom, stone and metal as well. Their antenna, seemingly harmless adornments grant perfect perception of their environments in all angles around them, eclipsing all other senses by a massive degree. They cannot be snuck up upon short of exceptional Axiom tricks or outright teleportation. Their wings are large enough to allow nearly effortless flight with only a touch of Axiom. The upper wings can also fold back and aid the lower wings in steering truly impressive dives at absurd speeds. Finally their fur is sound absorbing, making them almost undetectable by those reliant on hearing.
All in all they would be a much more dangerous species if they weren’t so naturally passive when dry.
Currently undergoing a period of significant flux as a species after the emergence of the first Urthani Primal.
V’Quci • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#106
Pound per pound THE most aggressive species in the galaxy. Thankfully there’s not a lot of pounds to go around. Although small in stature the average V’Quci is as aggressive as a Cannidor Matriarch defending her child with the cold certainty they will die if she does not fight.
Thankfully the species is also very reclusive, nocturnal and territorial to the point that it’s rare to find more than a single family per community. And often at the edges of the community and keeping to themselves.
Their skin is on oddly loosely and is incredibly tough and resilient, but not immune, to a wide variety of damaging effects. Couple this with a very high energy level and absolute fearlessness and the V’Quci are an enemy that anyone can have that no one wants.
Honey badger women!
Valkas • quadrupedal crustacean mineralivore • 2/100#9
A feline based species that evolved in the spore choked jungles of Valk Prime. Like many creatures native to this incredibly humid world that has no source of open water, the Valkas live in symbiotic relationship with a fungal colony that serves as part of their digestive system. Allowing them to absorb nutrients from all directions and older portions of the mushroom can and will harden into thermal resistant armour that flawlessly absorbs laser fire and can be sharpened in to deadly claws. Traditionally the largest such weapon is on the end of their long, sinewy tail. Cultural association can be determined by the exact pattern of the tail barb.
Valrin • winged avian omnivore • 2/100#9
A close relative to the Pavorus, the Valrin are generally known to be even fiercer with a species wide trait for long memories for insult and vengeance and a longer one for life debts. This has led to a long history of war and while not officially an Apex species they are often considered Apex adjacent due to their readiness to develop warlike attitudes.
It’s often considered a very dangerous affair to convince the Valrin that you are some form of enemy as they will obsessively seek out ways to ruin you. They are also noted for incredible talon dexterity and are capable of operating complicated devices with their feet and will often prefer using these powerful talons to grip over their wings which are much clumsier with manual dexterity but still possessing thumbs. Think harpies.
Vishanyan • bipedal reptile omnivore • ?/100#?
The Vishanyan are a created species that is supposed to be a perfect form of stealth operations super soldier. They were developed from a blend of Cloaken, Miak, and several other species by a now long defunct company, Charrtack Solutions, under the code name Delta 14. Originally called the Vish, the Vishanyan freed themselves from their masters and began trying to build themselves something of a society, but their obsession with stealth and their fear of being rediscovered by their masters led them to crossing a few lines with some species that generally shouldn’t be crossed, the Apuk in this case.
Luckily for the Vishanyan, the Empress of Serbow is generous and wise, and she demanded from the Vishanyan an honorable surrender; she would ‘Offer The Warblade’ and they must ‘Kneel to The Sword’. This would be followed by the Vishanyan becoming a temporary client state of the Apuk Star Empire. The Apuk would teach the Vishanyan the ways of the galaxy, and when their time of learning was done, would either welcome them to the Empire as a full member nation, or send them off with pride.
The Vishanyan have recently learned two very important things since starting their period of service under the Apuk, one good and one bad.
First, Calculated Velocity of Victory, who had been instructed by her superiors to seduce the Undaunted super soldier Harold Jameson, and was failing at that task because Harold was very quickly seducing her instead, came pregnant as a result of her enthusiastic coupling with her new husband. The Vishanyan weren’t sure they could get pregnant to start with so this was very shocking news, however as part of delivering a health baby girl, Velocity’s body shifted into a bulkier more muscular form, perfect for defending offspring from outside aggressors.
This was not something the Vishanyan knew they could do. Both the transforming trick and successfully being impregnated and delivering healthy children, any one of which would be big news in it’s own right.
On the bad hand, they found out that there are still Vish in the galaxy, their sisters really, enslaved and brutalized, which is also doing a number on the Vishanyan collectively.
“Fine scaled in pale pink with a soft white underside to things. Her eyes are very large with massive pupils causing her to have them nearly closed at all times. Her neck makes up a full fourth of her height and is frilled on both sides out to shoulder length at the widest point. Axiom patterns are all over the frill and likely the source of the illusions she’s under.
Small rounded snout, no sign of feathers or horns, very wide hips, prominent claws on the feet but delicate grasping hands. Small pits around the neck suggesting thermal detection like a Nagasha. She’s wearing light armor in black and dark grey with goggles moved away from the eyes for now. The armor covers her from the base of the neck downwards and leaves her fingers and foot claws exposed. No tail of note.”
Language: The Vishanyan speak Galactic Trade and a Cloaken language, but also use significant elements of an ancient Cloaken language, Waver Word.
Notable Vishanyan:
Calculated Velocity of Victory (Velocity)
Unending Rain of Retribution (Rain)
Insight Beyond Simple Understanding (Insight)

Volpir • bipedal mammal carnivore • 1/100#61
Covered in silken orange and white fur at least on their ears and plush, fluffy tails, the Volpir pride themselves in seduction and their ability to talk their way into and out of anything. They have a not undeserved reputation as scam artists and charlatans.
However they’re also an unusually lusty race and as a strange quirk of evolution are EXTREMELY easy to imprint on with pheromones. There are numerous cases where unmarried Volpir have impressed on men whose scent they catch on their wives.
This has led to a great deal of marriages being muscled into which has not helped their reputation any.
A good portion of Volpir publicly rebel against this particular facet of their biology by taking regular pheromone suppressants and wearing jeweled nose pieces in public, this is a somewhat recent trend, but it seems to be growing.
It seems they are being rewarded for their efforts however, as there’s a decent amount of Human men who seem utterly obsessed with Volpir and hardly need to be encouraged, never mind coerced into taking a Volpir wife or wives.
A female Volpir is commonly called a ‘vixen’.

Vulbaa • winged insect carnivore • 1/100#8
A very socially cohesive group of carnivorous colony dwelling insects, the Vulbaa are almost aggressively friendly and are a major trade partner for multiple carnivorous races. Their most valued product is meat based candy made from their honey.
They’re roughly as large as a Gohb or Kohb and get along with them as well, often hiring Gohbs as technicians and Kohbs as medics.
They live in large communal hives with segments for each individual family. When they reach age or simply are overcrowded a group of fifteen to fifty will break off to go found another Hive elsewhere.
They base these hives around their husbands who they constantly offer their most refined Royal Nectar to.
Notable Vulbaa:
Chazziz Sanguine - Speaker for hive Sanguine, Octarin Spin
Weaver Archna • multi-limbed insect carnivore • 1/100#5
They look like a woman sitting on a spider at first. Then you notice there are no mandibles for the spider and it’s head directly connects into her. The Weaver Archna are one of the races with the most limbs among the Archna and Archana, a point they will occasionally use to boast with, but if they have anything to brag about it’s the proportionately powerful silk they weave.
Surpassed only by the sheer tensile strength of the Brute Archana it is a much more silken and beautiful weave that can be woven into both architecture and armor. Some entire cities make use of Weaver Archna silk as primary supports.
Notable Weave Archna:
Station Master Willow Spoke of the EFL station Ashen Ducts
Wimparas • multi-limbed crustacean omnivore • 1/100#6
A lobster centaur woman essentially. These amphibious women prefer life in the water and are considered quite fierce at first glance but are in fact merely stoic and considerate while being defensive so they don’t get rushed into making a decision.
This species is unusual in that its growth cycle, while extremely slow, is also unlimited.
They start off as one of the smallest races in the galaxy but are ageless and continuously grow larger as they grow older. There are reported cases where this difference is so extreme that newly born Wimparas can fit upon the finger tip of their mother. They are born at fifteen centimeters in length.
The Wimparas are currently undergoing significant changes after a member of their species ascended as a primal.
Notable Wimparas:
Clawdia Greatpincer
Yauya • bipedal mammal omnivore • 1/100#13
A very passionate and focused species. The Yauya do everything in their power to excel at whatever they are working on. Dependable past the point of parody the Yauya ALWAYS finish a job no matter how petty. This caused the species to nearly wipe itself out before they were conquered and saved by the Dzedin who saw an entire species tearing itself to pieces. They have been sworn sisters ever since and where the Dzedin go the Yauya are not far behind.
As such when the plan to mentally map out cruel space was beginning to flag it was the Yauya persistence that gave it the final push, coupled with the courtship style of the Yauya that made the final press and it imprinted a heavily distorted idea of the Yauya into human consciousness even as they detected our own. This resulted in a series of action/horror films on our side and the original debates on whether or not to send a probe to Cruel Space on the galactic scale.
Both races have kept this mostly to themselves as they see it as a moral duty to not take the credit for a rescue, as such they informed the council anonymously.
As for the Courtship, they play hunt their partners and have sexy make out sessions as they get out of the traps or are caught. It’s considered good fun all around.
